After logging in to the development server, the site developer sees an exact copy of the target web site. The full functionality of mechanisms and relationships within the site are preserved, and standard links are used for navigation.
Because the site in the edit mode looks the same as its published version, the developed or changed content can be previewed at any time. This allows for the end effect to be checked without having to publish the site.
The edit mode is a reflection of the website which presents the layout of its modules. Each module may contain information of different type, like plain text, graphics, animation, and so on.
The module structure allows the content manager to alter and modify the site by:
- editing the content of modules
- adding new modules
- removing redundant modules
- copying modules across pages
- altering the layout of modules on the page
- hiding modules
